“The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter).”

     Andrew and John were originally followers of John the Baptist before they began following the Lord Jesus.  The Baptist knew that Jesus is God and recognized that His destiny was to be the ultimate sacrifice making salvation possible for all those who would believe.  Jesus Himself is the Lamb of God.

It is important to remember that belief, water baptism and repentance did not bring redemption, restoration and eternal life.  Only Jesus Himself can do that.  John’s message of repentance prepared people to receive Christ as Savior and Lord.  His Presence is what we need in our lives.  Only Jesus saves.

“Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me.  Thank You for patiently bringing me along in this process of becoming more like You.  Mold me and make me into who You’ve called me to be.  Transform me from glory to glory back into Your image.  In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.”

Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected,
    which has become the cornerstone.’

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
