Reading From Revelation 10
“Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, “There will be no more delay! But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mysteryof God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”—Revelation 10:5-7
There are seasons of life when we are made to wait. God wants me to “occupy until I come” which means to be actively sharing His love and message with others and living on His promises while I’m waiting. It’s difficult to be patient, especially in hard times. But know that deliverance is coming! The light of day will shine again.
Right now we live in a mess. A chaotic mess of beauty and ugliness, joy and pain, rejoicing and grief, peace and war. Satan is called the god of this world and 1 John 5:19 says, “the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” But there is coming a day when the Father will wrap up human history and bring everything together under the power and authority of Jesus. He will bring about the consummation of all things and we will reign with Him forever. He will have His perfect way in everything in Heaven and Earth. There will be no more delay.
“Lord haste the day when our faith shall be sight! Come quickly Lord Jesus. In the meantime, empower us with Your Spirit to show love, communicate Your Good News and work through us to make life better in the here and now. Bless us with faith, hope and love especially in these dark times. Shine brightly in us and through us. In the overcoming Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things, Amen.”
The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.—I Corinthians 15:26-28
