Reading From Revelation 6
“When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.”
—Revelation 6:9-11
Some Christians believe that passages such as I Thessalonians 1:10, “to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath” suggest that believers who are alive at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be caught up to be with the Lord before His wrath is poured out upon the Earth. If that is how it will happen, then the “full number of their fellow servants” must be those converted, persecuted and martyred after the rapture takes place.
Regardless of the timeline of prophetic events, I am eternally grateful that Jesus will take care of all those who belong to Him. I don’t need to live in fear of the wrath of the Father because I have accepted the sacrifice of His Son, died to my old self, and walk in step with the Spirit in the newness of everlasting life. He is perfect and He is love, and perfect love casts out all fear.
“Heavenly Father, Your Presence brings comfort, peace, and hope in the face of fear. No matter what happens upon the Earth, You take excellent care of Your children. You provide and protect every member of Your eternal family. Thank You God. In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things. Amen.”
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
—Isaiah 41:10
