Reading From II John
The elder,
“To the lady chosen by God and to her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth— because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.”
—II John 2-3
Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the embodiment of the promises of God; He is the Word of God. He lives within every born again Christian by the Holy Spirit of Promise. We are promised in II John that Jesus Himself will be with us forever. What a comfort to know that we will enjoy His life-giving Presence for all eternity.
Because the Holy Spirit is God and He dwells within the hearts of every blood washed believer, it is the Spirit who binds us together as one eternal family. This is how we have unity with one another and with God. As we become more like Jesus, we have greater unity because we are all being conformed back into His divine image. Every child of God throughout all time and space has been sealed together by the Holy Spirit into the eternal family of God.
The love of God will be made complete in us as we are transformed from glory to glory to be more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is our perfect example for life and godliness. Through His atonement, we have at-one-ment; the divide between God and humanity caused by sin has been eliminated for every person who accepts the grace and mercy extended through Jesus.
“Lord Jesus, bring Your sons and daughters together in unity. May we all be of one accord, calling upon Your Name together, and encouraging one another as we travel the same journey to perfect harmony with the Father. In the Name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen.”
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ, which surpasseth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
—Ephesians 3:14-19
