Reading From Colossians 1

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”—Colossians 1:9-14

The Lord Jesus wants us to first be born again by His Spirit, but our walk with Him doesn’t end there. We need to grow in God. Grow up to be mighty men and women of valor, filled with the Spirit and glorifying the Father. How do we become filled with the knowledge of His will and ask spiritual wisdom and understanding? We open the Scriptures and read, study, meditate, and put His precepts and principles into practice in our daily lives.

So much of our relationship with the Lord is interconnected. We need the Spirit to dwell within us to bear fruit and we need to bear fruit in order to continue in the faith and to continue in the faith we need to nourish ourselves with knowledge and we need knowledge to have wisdom and it is wisdom to yield to the Spirit in order to bear fruit. All of this is made possible by the grace of the Lord which is accessible by choosing to have faith.

“God, thank You for inviting us to partner with You in experiencing the abundant life You’ve provided for us by Your blood. We want to see Your Kingdom expand upon the Earth for Your glory. Empower us by Your Spirit to do Your will and Your work in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.Ephesians 1:16-21
