Reading From Genesis 43-45

“Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.”—Genesis 45:4-7

God has ways of weaving His sovereignty and the free will he has given mankind together to form the tapestry of history. It is His story. He did not coerce Joseph into doing His will. Joseph made godly choices and God blessed him greatly for it. The wisdom that came by divine revelation concerning the stewardship of Egypt’s resources not only saved that nation from disaster, but the entire ancient world as well.

What God did through Joseph, He can do through you. You have resources at your disposal that He has blessed you with. What will you do with those resources? He anoints every believer as prophet, priest and king; prophetess, priestess and queen. How is your reign going? Are you governing your sphere of influence with the knowledge and wisdom He has revealed to you by His Word and illuminated by His Spirit? If you do so, you will be blessed beyond measure as you share the abundance with others.

“Heavenly Father, thank You for who You are and what You do. You take such good care of Your children. We worship You and praise Your holy Name. As You bless us with more than what we can ask for or imagine, I pray that we would be faithful to give generously to those in need, expanding Your Kingdom and making this world a better place. In the benevolent and merciful Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things, Amen.”

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.I Timothy 6:18
