Reading From Job 29-31

“If I have put my trust in gold
or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’
if I have rejoiced over my great wealth,
the fortune my hands had gained,
if I have regarded the sun in its radiance
or the moon moving in splendor,
so that my heart was secretly enticed
and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,
then these also would be sins to be judged,
for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.”—Job 31:24-28

It is not money that is the root of all kinds of evil, but rather the love of money. When money becomes the highest priority or goes from being a tool to be used in taking care of one’s family and giving generously to those in need, to being what we depend on rather than God, then money becomes an idol and an unhealthy problem. Greed and hoarding are rampant in our society. God is our Provider and we need to rely on Him. He gives us all that we need for life and godliness.

“God, help me have proper priorities. May Your Spirit give me the calm reassurance of Your sustenance. I know in my mind that I can depend upon You. Help me to know it in my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

And my God will meet all your needsaccording to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:19
