Reading From Hebrews 7
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. He is first, by translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, that is, king of peace. He is without father or mother or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever.”
—Hebrews 6:19-7:3
When you love someone, you want to get to know all about them. Followers of Jesus feel this way about Him. The Book of Hebrews reveals deep truths about the Savior. As we have learned before, Jesus is without beginning or end. Not only is He the Alpha and the Omega,[1] the Beginning and the End, His life extends from everlasting to everlasting. He is the infinite God, reigning supreme without birth or death. The Earth was created through Jesus and after His Second Coming, He will cleanse the world with fire and renew it to its paradisiacal glory.
There are no other gods like Him. He is the first and the last. All other gods are demons worshipped by humanity and those demons were originally angels created by God but who were cast out of Heaven as punishment for their rebellion.[2] Our God is not a created being; He alone is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.[3] He is Spirit and His worshippers must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.[4]
God exists both outside time and space and within it.[5] The only time God has had a beginning and end was when He voluntarily entered time and space as baby Jesus and was crucified on the cross of Calvary, but even then death could not limit Him, the grave could not hold Him. He conquered sin and death and brought the same victory to you and I if we dare to trust Him for it. Like Melchizedek only infinitely greater, who may have been an Old Testament appearance of Christ Himself, He has no father or mother, no beginning and no end, full of righteousness and peace. God is the eternal Spirit, from everlasting to everlasting. There is no one else like Him, no one beside Him, no one greater than He is, and He alone is worthy of all praise, adoration and worship. Glory to His matchless Name!
“Lord God Almighty, I pray that You would reveal Yourself to more and more men, women and children all across the globe. Use Your sons and daughters to shine the light of Your love and truth to all those in need. Guide us all into a deeper revelation of who You are. As we learn more about You, we fall more in love with You and desire to share that love with others. In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things, Amen.”
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
—Psalm 90:2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
—John 1:1
By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
—Hebrews 11:3
Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
