Reading From Hebrews 6

“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so.”—Hebrews 6:1-3

God wants us to continually learn and grow. When we are first born again, we learn the basic truths of the faith. That is to be the starting point of a life long faith journey rather than a static state of perpetual immaturity. To profess faith in Christ but then to never grow spiritually is not genuine salvation. What does not grow will die. It is vital to our spiritual health and survival to be guided into deeper truth by the Spirit and have our faith grow and strengthen as we learn to trust Him in the midst of challenges and stand firm upon His promises.

When we go from spiritual death to new life in Christ, there are many, many things about us that do not honor the Lord. As we go along we are convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit, we surrender those things to His authority and control. This is the process of sanctification.

We become more like Jesus as our old, sinful habits and behaviors and thought patterns go by the wayside in favor of being renewed in our minds and changed in our behaviors. God changes us for the better from the inside out and we are transformed from glory to glory until one Day we reach unity in faith as partakers of His divine nature.

“Lord Jesus, thank You for moving us all forward in faith as You align our lives with the principles of Your Word. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.—II Peter 3:18

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God—Colossians 1:9-10

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.—II Peter 1:5-8
