Our Family Table: A Little Lower Than The Angels

Reading From Hebrews 1-2

“And to which of the angels has he ever said,

“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”—Hebrews 1:13-14

Jesus is God. God is an uncreated, infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent Spirit. Angels are ministering spirits created by God to do His bidding. Satan and his demons were angels who were cast out of Heaven for attempted usurpation and exist in rebellion against God. Humans are created beings with body, soul and spirit.

Humans who have not accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord are spiritually dead. But when they are born again, the Spirit of God is breathed into them and they become alive in Christ. Their spirits are fused with His Spirit. As an individual grows spiritually they become more like Jesus.

This process of sanctification continues until the resurrection at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ when body, soul and spirit are made perfect and God’s eternal family will dwell in perfect unity and harmony with Him for eternity in His glory. We will be one with Him. Angels long to look into these things.

“Holy Spirit, guide us into all truth. Reveal to us the beautiful facets of the mystery of the Gospel. Teach us Your ways. Help us to walk in them. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.”

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.Hebrews 2:14-18
