Reading From I Timothy 1
“The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.”—I Timothy 1:10-11
From the heart of the Gospel, which is the Good News of Jesus Christ, flows all kinds of wholesome teaching that if put into practice builds a solid, healthy, balanced life. The Good News is that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He took our place on the cross with the sins of the entire human race from all time upon His shoulders. Three days later He conquered death to bring life abundant and eternal to all those who would choose to trust, repent, confess and receive Him as Savior and Lord. If that is true of you, you can have the calm assurance that you are truly saved, on your way to Heaven, and have right standing in the Presence of God the Father.
From this core of Truth, Christ reveals to us through His Word everything we need for life and godliness. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. He shows us how to be the best child, spouse, parent, student, employee, friend and on and on; He will help us to become the best version of ourselves, remade in His image. This is wholesome teaching.
“God, make us more like You for Your glory and for our good. Amen.”
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
—II Corinthians 3:18
