Reading From II Corinthians 7

“Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.”—II Corinthians 7:1

How do we cleanse ourselves? Not by our own strength or power but by trusting, surrendering and consecrating ourselves to the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. His love and grace and mercy transforms us. As we are born again, we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and the Spirit not only sets us apart for holy purposes, but He readily blesses us with the strength, power, and wisdom we need to thwart the enemy’s attacks and temptations. He empowers us to lead godly lives as we share the love and message of Jesus with others.

“Lord, thank you for the sanctifying and empowering work of Your Spirit in my life and in the lives of my brothers and sisters. I pray that You would soften and open our hearts and minds to receive more from You. As the song says let it be our prayer, ‘More love, more power, more of You in my life.’ Let it be so in the Name of Jesus, Amen.”

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.II Peter 1:3-4
