Peace Be With You

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”

Proverbs 12:25

I’m reminded that each of us struggle with different things even as we follow the Lord. So many of us wrestle with stress, worry, fear and anxiety. To say that we need to obey God and follow the principles of His Word is true but daunting. So let’s take it one principle, one step at a time with His help and grace.

Anxiety weighs us down. Proverbs 12:25 gives the remedy of kind words. The most loving, kind and most powerful words are from His Word the Bible. And so perhaps when we’re facing a situation which causes anxiety, we could find an encouraging Scripture that matches the challenge and hide it in our hearts until we know it frontward and backward.

We sang a song at church yesterday with these lyrics:

“Write scripture on your heart for when you need it

‘Cause anxiety hates Psalm 23

So just say it to yourself ’til you believe it

And I’m feeling like I’m needing it right now”

Do we believe God’s Word to be true? Is the power of the Holy Spirit real? The same power that raised our Lord Christ from the dead lives within you. In Him we live and move and have our being. Doubt is not from God. I pray that our faith and trust in Christ and His Word increases and strengthens. We will stumble? Yes. Will we fall? Yes. But He is right there with us ready to forgive and empower and move us forward in faith.

Blessings to you, brothers and sisters. May the Lord bless each of you with peace and strength and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.—Proverbs 16:24
