“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

God has called His sins and daughters to love Him, love others and love ourselves in holy and healthy ways. We are to show this love in both spiritually and temporally. It isn’t enough to think positive thoughts and pray for others, we must show compassion with practical deeds and creative methods making the most of opportunities the Lord provides for us.

In sharing His love and message with others, we are to make disciples. This is to be done in the inspiration, strength and power of the Holy Spirit. He flows through us and into the lives of those in our communities, among those who are not like us, our regions, nations and around the world. As we follow Jesus, act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him, let us encourage others to join us and teach them to obey His life giving principles found in His Word. Amen!

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
