Reading From Romans 15:14-33
“I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another. Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”—Romans 15:14-16
As sons and daughters of the Most High God, we are called to be priests and priestesses who function in the power and authority of our Great High Priest, the Lord Christ. Thank God for Paul. By revelation through this prolific apostle, we have most of our New Testament and with it the substantial unpacking of the Gospel. The four gospels contain the narrative of Jesus, the epistles further explain what happened in that narrative.
Because of the work God did through apostles like Peter and Paul and me living out the principles God has revealed through His apostles and prophets, I am becoming an acceptable offering to Him. Like Paul, we are to share the love of Jesus with practical acts of compassion and share His truth in love. The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus and we are anointed as priests and priestesses to share it.
“Holy Spirit, empower us to do the work of Jesus upon the Earth for the glory of the Father, Amen.”
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.—I Peter 2:9-10
