Reading From Romans 11:19-36
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?”
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.”—Romans 11:33-36
True wealth is found in following Jesus, learning more about Him and His Word, and applying His principles in our daily lives. There are plenty of people who are have lots of money and material goods but they are spiritually impoverished. Conversely there are those who know their identity, community and destiny in Jesus and are incredibly rich spiritually, but who have no hoarded gold or other earthly treasures.
God provides for His children in every way, but His intention is not for us to store up wealth on Earth, but rather build up treasure in Heaven by obedience to God. He blesses each of His children with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms and will provide for every temporal need, but regardless of what form a blessing comes in, He means for us to be wise stewards and share the abundance He has given.
“Lord, change our hearts and minds about wealth and how to use it. May we acknowledge that everything belongs to You and therefore should be used for Your glory and honor. Help us to be generous and compassionate in every way. Guide us with Your Holy Spirit as we live out Your precepts found in Your Word. Give us courage and strength to obey You and worship You in Spirit and in Truth. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.—Ephesians 4:28
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.—Hebrews 13:16
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.—Luke 6:38
The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.—Proverbs 22:9
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.—Romans 12:13
On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.—Romans 12:20
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
—Proverbs 11:24-25
