Reading From Romans 10
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”—Romans 10:14-15
The Good News of Jesus Christ is too good not to share with others. His Presence is so liberating and fulfilling and joyful and peaceful and thrilling that I cannot help but share the Way, the Truth and the Life. Here in Romans 10, the Apostle Paul who was the foremost missionary of the first century, shows the vital importance of us fulfilling the Great Commission to go and make disciples.
It is odd for us to expect unbelievers to behave like believers. They won’t act like Christians until they become followers of Jesus and they won’t be born again unless someone like you shares the love of God and His plan of salvation with them. I think too often we are fooled into thinking that people don’t want to hear about the Lord, but that is so far from the truth. You never know.
Someone close to you might be dying to hear about the abundant and eternal life you enjoy. You won’t know whether or not they want to hear about Him until you open your mouth and talk about the Lord. It is good to think about the ways He has changed your life and why you believe in and follow Him so that when an opening in conversation presents itself or you get creative about sharing, you’ll be ready.
“Lord Jesus, please open our eyes to opportunities around us to share about You with others. Soften their hearts and open their ears to hear about Your love and truth. Reminds us of Your goodness and how You’ve changed us for the better. We love You, Lord. Amen.”
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. —I Peter 3:15-16
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.—Romans 10:17
