Reading From Acts 22

“A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a devout observer of the law and highly respected by all the Jews living there.  He stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very moment I was able to see him.”—Acts 22:12-13

The astonishing thing about this story is that Ananias was among those who Saul was coming to Damascus to arrest and put to death and yet he showed tremendous kindness to the man who would come to be known as the Apostle Paul. Saul had passionately persecuted the early church but was transformed by the grace, the undeserved favor, of God shown to him through Ananias.

Brother Ananias explained to Saul the way to be saved and the new apostle went on to spread the Good News of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus and write most of the New Testament. This grace did not enable him to continue in a sinful lifestyle, rather he was radically changed by the love of God as he was inwardly washed in the blood of Jesus by the Spirit. Be faithful to share His grace with anyone and everyone. You never know. You might minister to the next world changer!

“Lord Jesus, thank You for those in our lives who have been like Ananias in showing us the Way, the Truth and the Life. We are eternally grateful. Show us how to do that and be that for others. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”

“Then he said: ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’Acts 22:14-16
