Reading From Acts 21:18-40
“The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present. Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.”—Acts 21:18-20
It is healthy and encouraging for brothers and sisters in Christ to share with each other what God is doing in our lives. Sharing testimonies of God’s goodness to us in our modern context strengthens our faith. It’s exciting to now that God is real and alive a well, moving in the hearts and lives of His people.
It is inaccurate to think that all Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah. After all, most of the early church was Jewish. While it is true that the Jewish establishment rejected Him, this passage shows that thousands of Hebrew heritage accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. As we read the Bible together, it is important to look at these details and correct how we view biblical history. Salvation came through the Jews as Jesus was a Jew, but it is meant to be shared with everyone who will listen and believe.
“Lord, thank You for caring about us enough to intervene in our lives. Open our eyes to the truth of Your Word and show us the countless facets of Your majesty and goodness. In Christ’s Name I pray, Amen.”
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.—Romans 1:16
