Reading From Acts 20:17-38
“You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”—Acts 20:20-21
Paul was continually looking for ways to encourage and build up the churches. He communicated as much spiritual knowledge as possible in every way he could think of. The model he used to do this is still used today. In our modern context, Christians proclaim the Good News in the public marketplace of ideas, in church meetings that are open to the public, and also in small groups that meet in family homes. The born again experience comes to an individual when they choose to turn away from their life of sin and toward Jesus, believing, confessing and receiving Him as Savior and Lord. This change of mind and turning away is the essence of repentance. Paul conveyed the Gospel with simplicity and power. As sons and daughters of the Most High God, we are called to join him in doing the same.
“O Lord God, empower us with Your Spirit to love You, love others and love ourselves and share Your love and message with the world around us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.—I Corinthians 2:2
