Reading From Acts 21:1-17

“After sighting Cyprus and passing to the south of it, we sailed on to Syria. We landed at Tyre, where our ship was to unload its cargo. We sought out the disciples there and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem…We continued our voyage from Tyre and landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and sisters and stayed with them for a day. Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven. He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.”—Acts 21:3-4, 7-9

We know from the beginning of the book of Acts that God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh. Whether or not an individual is receptive to that outpouring is up to them. If we dare to believe and surrender to Him, we open ourselves to receive what He has for us. He seeks to empower and equip us for Kingdom living and Kingdom work, but He won’t force anything on us, including Himself. He is seeking willing vessels. Not perfect, but willing. Philip the evangelists had four daughters who prophesied. They were among those who were willing to listen for the voice of the Lord and then boldly speak His Word. May we follow their example.

“Lord, soften our hearts and speak to us I pray. Open our spiritual ears to hear Your voice. May we receive messages of truth from You and be open to Your correction and encouragement. Give us courage to share what we receive from You with others and show us how to communicate with love, sincerity of heart and real intent. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.Galatians 3:28
