Reading From John 8:1-27
“But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”
“Who are you?” they asked.
“Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied. “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.”
They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.”
—John 8:23-27
Every human is given free will. Each of us has the ability to make choices in our every day lives. The most important decision we will make is whether or not to follow Jesus. I believe that we are responsible for the truth that has been made available to us. If we have heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, then we must either accept Him or reject Him. If we believe, repent, confess and receive Him as Lord and Savior, then we will not die in our sins.
He has made a way for us to be with the Father forever. He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. As we learn and grow in our knowledge of Christ and His Word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, more and more is revealed to us about the heart and character of the Father. As we relinquish control of our lives to Him, we become more like Him for His glory and for our good.
“Heavenly Father, thank You for making the way for us to be delivered from our present reality through the Lord Jesus. Break the chains of sin in our lives and cleanse us by Your blood. Empower us by anointing us with Your Holy Spirit that we would do Your work upon the Earth. Help us to speak the truth in love and show Your love through practical acts of compassion. In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things, Amen.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
—John 14:6-7
