The Passover of the Old Covenant and Resurrection Day of the New Covenant are celebrated in the spring time. After the long, harsh winter of slavery in Egypt and the long, harsh winter of slavery to sin, God brought deliverance for the Hebrews by the blood of the Passover lambs and ultimately to all the world by the blood of the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus the Christ.
Whatever sin you are struggling with, be encouraged and know that your winter doesn’t have to last forever. By grace, through faith in Jesus, you can be given freedom from sin and be blessed with the strength and power you need to move forward in the newness of life in Him. He turns winter into spring and turns the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve into sons and daughters of the Most High God.
Every born again child of God was once a slave to sin who came to the realization that sin wasn’t bringing them the satisfaction it falsely promised. Each of us realized we wanted something different, something deeper, something more, something better. The momentary pleasures of this world are temporary and do not give us lasting fulfillment. Only healthy, balanced, life-giving relationship with God will bring the fullness of joy in His Presence.
After the long, cold, gray, harsh winter of sin, the bright light and warmth of His love, acceptance and forgiveness feels so good. Through God the Son, we can be restored to right relationship with God the Father and our destiny will be with Him in the New Eden.
Happy Resurrection Day to you! Enjoy the spring time.
God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered.
No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors.
—Deuteronomy 30:3-5
