Our Family Table: Count the Cost and Endure

Reading From Luke 14:25-35

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’”—Luke 14:28-30

In order to follow the Lord Jesus, it will cost you your life. What I mean is, you must give up insisting on having your own way and surrender to His will and His way. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. A beautiful secret behind giving one’s life to Jesus is that real living is found only in Him. In Him our deepest, truest desires are fulfilled.

Once I surrendered my life to Jesus, there was no turning back. Nothing in all the world can compare to the joy and satisfaction that comes with following Jesus and enjoying the Presence of the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit. By partnering with the work of the Spirit in our lives, we are empowered with the tools and strength we need to see our faith grow. He blesses us with the tenacity we need to endure to the end. Even when we feel like giving up, He keeps us moving forward.

“Lord, thank You for Your love and Presence in our lives. Help us to resist temptation and follow You faithfully. Your grace and mercy are there to catch us when we falter. We love You, Lord Jesus. Amen.”

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.—Matthew 24:13
