Reading From Luke 11:1-28

“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.”

—Luke 11:17

     O how we need Jesus and His Word today!  Hatred and the division it causes is ripping apart society.  We desperately need the fruit of the Spirit in our homes, churches, workplaces, schools and every part of human life.  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are all in short supply even among followers of Jesus.  He who does not have the Spirit does not have Christ.[1] 

The primary way that a Christian is proven to be genuine is by the fruit of their lives.  I cannot help but think that the divisive climate of today would be less contentious if Christians were living out the teachings of our Lord, not only in their private lives but in public. We must endeavor to be peacemakers for the glory of God.

“Lord Jesus, make us real Christians.  Help us to be more like You.  Conform us into Your image.  May we yield to the movement of Your Holy Spirit so that excellent quality spiritual fruit is produced in our lives.  In Jesus’ Name I pray.  Amen.”

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.—Matthew 5:9
