Reading From Mark 14:54-72
“Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.”—Mark 14:72
I’m so thankful that even when we fail the Lord, He still loves us and that when we come to Him with a broken and contrite spirit, He will lift us up, dry our tears and help us to move forward in faith. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus and the way to be “in” Christ is to walk in humble repentance with Him. According to I John 1, if we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us all unrighteousness, but if we claim to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. I want the truth to be in me. I confess and repent of my sins.
“God, thank You for being gracious and merciful to Your children. May we walk humbly, act justly and love mercy. Help us to continually turn away from sin and toward You for mercy, redemption and pardon. In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray these things, Amen.”
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
—Psalm 51:17
