Reading From Acts 9-10

“44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” —Acts 10:44-48

We need the power of God in our lives, especially in these latter days. Those who think that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit happened once for all on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 are mistaken. Everyone who heard Peter speaking at the household of Cornelius were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Peter said in Acts 2:39 that “The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” This experience of endowment with power and passion from on high was subsequent to their born again experience at the end of the book of John. Life in Jesus doesn’t end when we’re born again. We need to grow in God. Grow up to be strong men and women increasing in spiritual knowledge and wisdom and power. How do we receive more from the Lord? Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you.

“God, we want all that You gave for us. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us. Reveal Your hand in glory. Flood our hearts and minds and lives with Your Presence. May You increase as we decrease. In the Name of Jesus we pray, Amen!”

“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy.

Acts 2:17-18
