Reading From Matthew 19, Mark 10
“Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.” —Matthew 19:13-15
The disciples were a very diverse group with competing viewpoints and priorities. Many people thought Jesus would become a great military hero and liberate the Holy Land from the Roman Empire. But Jesus had a much larger agenda than any military strategy, political operation or socioeconomic policy.
The Kingdom of God is the greatest kingdom the whole has ever or will ever know. One day the spiritual victory won by the Lord Jesus will overtake every dark force that currently torments creation. It is an extraordinary miracle that God the Father gives us access to this abundant, victorious and eternal life through the redemptive work of God the Son. If we have simple, childlike faith and trust in Jesus, we inherit the Kingdom of God.
“Lord, thank You for caring about each and every one of us, from the greatest to the least. You even care about little babies. Thank You for Your great love. Amen.”
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
—John 1:12
