Reading From Luke 12-13
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
–Luke 12:6-7
God knows more about us than we know ourselves. I have no idea how many hairs are on my head, but He does. What is astonishing to me is that He knows me that well and yet He still loves me. Even when I’m annoying, even when I make terrible mistakes, even when I feel unlovable, the Lord God, King of the Universe still loves me, forgives me and accepts me. He will do the same for you if you dare to trust Him.
He wants to pour out His love upon you. He loves you regardless of whether you accept it from Him or not, but in order for you to experience Him in a way that has eternal significance, you must reciprocate it. What the Lord of Hosts desires is a two-way, personal, healthy, life-giving relationship with you. We show our love for Him by our worshipful obedience for His glory and our good.
“Lord Jesus, thank You for Your endless love. I pray that more and more of Your creatures will return Your love and become Your sons and daughters. Reveal more and more aspects of Your marvelous character to us. Help us to learn more about ourselves and to see ourselves as You do; special and dearly loved. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
