Reading From Esther 1-5
“Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to yourself that in the king’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
–Esther 4:13-14
The story of Queen Esther shows that it is imperative for the sons and daughters of the Most High God to be bold and courageous in standing up for what is right in the corrupt world in which we live. Yahweh has revealed the light of Truth to us through His Word the Bible and the principles we find there form the firm foundation upon which we are to build our lives. When the shifting sands of moral relativism and corruption swirl around us, we have the Rock of Christ Jesus to stand on and stand we must.
Why is it vital that Christians make a stand for truth and righteousness? Part of the reason is that the world has countless people in it who are unable for one reason or another to stand up for themselves against wickedness, oppression and abuse. God calls us to help those who cannot help themselves. This is part of obeying the Great Commandment to love God and share His love with others. If we do not put action to love, then is it true love? We must show our faith and love by our words and our deeds.
“Lord God, I pray that You would bless Your people with the courage we need to make a stand for the truths of Your Word. Bless us with the wisdom we need to pick our battles and lead us to surrender to You for we know that the battle belongs to You. You are the mighty Lion of the Tribe of Judah. I pray that if there is anyone reading this who does not know where they will spend eternity, that they would make the decision today to be on Your side, Lord. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
–Psalm 68:5-6
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
–Romans 12:21
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
–I Corinthians 16:13-14
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
–Ephesians 6:13
