Reading From Zechariah 8-14

“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn…

…On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.”

 –Zechariah 12:10, 13:1

     What an extraordinary Messianic prophecy foretold through the Prophet Zechariah hundreds of years before the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus.  The Savior was pierced many times over for our transgressions; by the crown of thorns, by the scourging of the whip, the nails in His hands and feet, and finally, by the spear in His side.

     The fountain opened for the cleansing of whosoever will believe is the very blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  It is a fountain continuously flowing with love, acceptance and forgiveness for all those who believe, repent and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father.  When a person is born again, the Holy Spirit washes them spiritually in the blood of Jesus and in this way all believers have the same baptism into the Church universal.  One faith, One Lord, One baptism.

“There is not enough praise in all the universe sufficient enough to thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.  Thank You, Lord Jesus.  Amen.”

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.

 –Isaiah 53:5
