Reading From Proverbs 30-31
“Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Whose hands have gathered up the wind?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is the name of his son?
Surely you know!
Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”
–Proverbs 30:4-6
I believe that the answer to the questions asked in verse four is Yahweh and Yeshua; God the Father and God the Son. The first coming of the Son was foretold in hundreds of Old Testament prophecies like this one, hundreds of years prior to His physical birth at Bethlehem in the meridian of time. He is the Word of God fulfilled; fully God and fully man.
From the first chapter of John we learn that Jesus was an integral part of the creative process recorded in the beginning of Genesis. This gives greater clarity to Genesis 1:26-27 which says, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three in one God. Furthermore, God is spirit and therefore supernaturally transcends gender. Adam and Eve were created in His spiritual image and were given God’s masculine and feminine characteristics.
We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments comprise the written Word of God and that everything we need for life and godliness is contained therein. The Holy Spirit illuminates our understanding of divine revelation and guides us into all truth. Hebrews 1:1-2 ties all of this together for us, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom he also made the universe.”
We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing through Christ and His Word. Therefore, additional Scripture is not needed. What is needed is for the Truth to be divinely revealed to us. God’s Word is so rich with layers of meaning and its principles are woven together in a harmonious tapestry of beautiful spiritual truth with perfect balance and no contradiction. It will take us a lifetime to even explore the surface of its great depths.
“Father God, thank You for Your Son and Your Word. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one compares to You, Jesus and nothing compares with Your Word the Bible. In Your love and by Your blood we experience redemption, power, healing and hope. In the pages of Your Word is a wealth of wisdom and knowledge that could only come from You. I thank You and praise Your holy and righteous Name.”
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made;
without Him nothing was made that has been made.
In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness,
And the darkness has not overcome it.”
–John 1:1-5
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
–Psalm 119:105
I will worship toward Thy holy temple,
and praise Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth,
For Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.
–Psalm 138:2
