Reading From II Chronicles 6-7, Psalm 136
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” —II Chronicles 7:14
We desperately need God to forgive our sin and heal our land. In order for this to occur, we are given several conditions. Humility, prayer, pursuit of the Lord and repentance are required of the people of Yahweh in order for Him to do this work of national healing.
Notice that these conditions are required of His followers. This is a conversation the Lord is having with His covenant people, those called by His Name. Christian means “Little Christ” and that is the goal of our faith; to be more like Jesus. We cannot expect ungodly people to act as though they are born again. It isn’t fair to them and shifts the responsibility away from the children of God.
Sons and daughters of the King, stop waiting for those who don’t even believe in God yet to “get their act together” so that our country can heal. The change begins with us. It begins with you, it begins with me.
Father God loves us enough to call us to repentance because He knows that in being real with Him, honest with ourselves and allowing to make real changes in our lives, we will live our best life, the life we’re meant to live. We’re made to bring Him honor and partake of His divine nature.
The way to awaken our souls and begin walking into our destiny is to dare to believe in God and trust His Word. Once we choose faith, a whole universe of knowledge and wisdom and joy and adventure opens up to us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Through Him we are guided gradually into all truth and He brings the light of revelation to the darkness of our minds until finally, on that glorious Day when Jesus is revealed in glory, we step into full knowledge of things we only see dimly and without total understanding. I look forward to that Day!
“God, thank You that You are our Healer and that You desire Your people to live in healthy, righteous relationship with You. Lord, let Your love flood our hearts and minds and guide us with Your loving kindness into alignment with the precepts of Your Word.”
Worship the Lord your God, and His blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you —Exodus 23:25
Lord my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me. —Psalm 30:2
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind. —Psalm 107:19-21
