Reading From I Kings 7, II Chronicles 4

“King Solomon then asked for a man named Huram to come from Tyre. He was half Israelite, since his mother was a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father had been a craftsman in bronze from Tyre. Huram was extremely skillful and talented in any work in bronze, and he came to do all the metal work for King Solomon.”

–I Kings 7:13-14

The inclusion of Huram in the building of the temple is beautiful because it shows us that all kinds of people from different backgrounds came together to construct the crown jewel of the Israelite religious experience.  No matter what our ethnicity, gender, or culture, we are all image-bearers of the Most High God and we each have different skills, talents and strengths to be used to the glory of God in His service.

“Lord, I pray that I would value people’s contributions to Your work no matter what their background is.  Thank You for loving everyone.  Amen.”

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

 –Revelation 7:9-12
