Reading From Proverbs 19-21
“The one who gets wisdom loves life;
the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”
–Proverbs 19:8
Prosperity, like divine healing, is something that ever born-again child of God will experience, it is only a matter of how and when. At the moment God takes us residence within our hearts and makes our bodies His temples, we are given every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:3 clues us in, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” It will take us an eternity of loving God and being loved by Him to know every spiritual blessing we have in Him.
Even as the world goes to hell in a handbasket around us, we are still so very richly blessed; we have heaven in our hearts. Sin damages us in ways we are not even immediately aware of. The beginning of our faith journey with the Lord is also the start of a healing process in which God gradually heals us spiritually from the inside out. Our Great Physician is repairing the damage and renewing us in every way.
Yahweh is our Heavenly Father and as our Perfect Parent, He provides for His children not only spiritually but also temporally. There are millions of stories of how God has come through for His kids giving them food, shelter, clothing, money, and any other resources we need to live our lives and do His work upon the Earth. There are times He even gives us more than we need and allows us to both and enjoy and share His abundance. In fact, as we share more, He is able to entrust us with more and more. We must endeavor to steward His resources wisely and generously for His glory and thereby our good. God wants good things for His kids.
“God, I pray that You bless me with more wisdom and understanding. Help me to be welcoming and generous to everyone I come in contact with. Remind me to be truly grateful for everything You’ve entrusted to me. May I bring glory and honor to Your Name. Amen.”
The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
–Deuteronomy 28:8
I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you. I clothed you with an embroidered dress and put sandals of fine leather on you. I dressed you in fine linen and covered you with costly garments. I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was honey, olive oil and the finest flour. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign Lord.
–Ezekiel 16:9-14
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
–III John 1:2
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
–Psalm 1:3
