Reading From II Samuel 22-23, Psalm 57
“As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?
It is God who arms me with strength
and keeps my way secure.”
–II Samuel 22:31-33
We are so blessed as believers to have the written record of the Bible which we know to be the Word of God. The sixty six books of the Old and New Testaments give us the gold standard with which to measure anything or anyone claiming to communicate divine revelation from God. Yahweh’s Word and His Way are perfect and we have a marvelous treasure trove of spiritual and temporal guidance available to us in the pages of Scripture.
There is no other foundation more solid than Christ and His Word. In fact He is the promises of the Father come true in bodily form while He ministered on the Earth at the meridian of time. Because He is trustworthy and true, we can take the principles He has given us in the Bible and use them to build a healthy, balanced life on with the guidance of His Holy Spirit. In Him we are strong and safe. In Him we have a mind-blowing hope and future.
“Lord, I pray that You will guide me into all truth by Your Holy Spirit. Reveal more and more about who You are and what You’ve done for me and the rest of humanity. Thank You for everything. I worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Help me to apply Your Truth in my every day life. Amen.”
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
–John 16:13
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
–Psalm 119:105
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
–Hebrews 4:12
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
–II Peter 1:21
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
–Matthew 4:4
