Reading From Psalms 81, 88, 92-93
“I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
“But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.
So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.
If my people would only listen to me,
if Israel would only follow my ways,
how quickly I would subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes!
Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
–Psalm 81:10-16
I don’t think we realize how much God longs for us to follow His Way and be blessed. He loves us so much and wants good things for His children. Yahweh is speaking to us even today through a myriad of ways and as our Heavenly Father, He yearns for us to not only hear Him but do what He says so that things will go well for us. His love is unconditional, but the vast majority of His promises are conditional. We are free to choose our own way and if we do that, then God leaves us to our own devices and we must deal with the natural and spiritual consequences that follow. If we listen and follow His voice, He will fight for us, provide for us and we will be satisfied. Countless people today are searching for satisfaction and fulfillment. Following the Father is where to find it.
“God, help Your children to know just how much You love them and want to bless them temporally and spiritually. You have blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. Everything we need for life and godliness, we have by Your Word and by Your Spirit. Thank You that You are our good, good Father and if we will listen and follow, You promise to bless us in this life and the one to come. I pray that as we listen for Your voice and follow You together, that we will discover who we really are, deepen our sense of belonging and journey into our destiny as children of You, the Most High God, in Your eternal family. Amen.”
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. –Matthew 7:7-12
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. –Matthew 23:37
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. –III John 2-4
