Reading From Deuteronomy 28-29
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
–Deuteronomy 29:29
There is a lot about our world and our universe that we don’t know. Human knowledge is extensive, but it is nothing compared to the limitless intelligence of our Creator. He is greater than anything and everything that He has created. One of the wonderful aspects of God’s character is that while He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere at the same time, He is also loving. In fact, Scripture says that God is love. All of His marvelous attributes exist at the same time without contradiction and this is why He is to be both feared and loved.
If I waited to trust God until I had everything about Him and the world and my life figured out, I would never trust Him. Part of what is so great about Yahweh is that while I will never fully comprehend Him, I can and do know Him. It would be so boring to know everything. Trusting God with the unknown is what makes life with Him an adventure. Following Jesus is filled with exciting twists, turns, and surprises all the while resting in His grace and knowledge that He is weaving time and space and events and people and things together in a stunning tapestry for His glory and for my good. He is AWESOME!
“God, I know that many times I worry and stress because I don’t have everything figured out. Help me to let go and let You do Your thing. Bring me to a place of surrender where I trust You completely. I yield to Your will. Let Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Cleanse me of all my unrighteousness and make me a clean, if yet imperfect, vessel for Your love and power to flow through and into the world around me. Thank You for a fresh start each day. I love You! Amen.”
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
–Psalm 37:1-7
