Reading From Numbers 33-34

“Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. At the Lord’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages:

The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians, who were burying all their firstborn, whom the Lord had struck down among them; for the Lord had brought judgment on their gods.”

–Numbers 33:1-4

I believe the Bible to be an historical record.  Here in Numbers 33 we find a play-by-play recap of the entire exodus from Egypt to Canaan.  It is a powerful reminder that the Bible is true and can be trusted.  Time and again God shows Himself to be real and powerful in comparison to the false gods of the world, both ancient and modern.  False gods can be any created thing that people choose to worship or place more importance on than God.  Idolatry is closely linked to demonic activity which gives the impression that the “god” is real.  It is real in a sense that demons are active and cause horrible havoc in people’s lives, but they are nothing compared with Yahweh.

“God, strengthen my faith in You, the one and only true God.  You deserve all of my devotion and my undivided affection.  Keep my eyes focused on You and Your priorities at the forefront of my gaze.  Amen.”

But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.

Jeremiah 10:10
